Sidewalk DancingNational magazine selects a pair of Atticus titles a debut novel and a literary history  in its search for the best indie books of 2013.

Two Atticus titles — Sidewalk Dancing and Paper Dreams: Writers and Editors on the American Literary Magazine —  are finalists for the 2013 Foreword Reviews Book of the Year Awards. Sidewalk Dancing, a debut novel in stories by Letitia Moffitt, and Paper Dreams, a collective history edited by Travis Kurowski, were chosen in the Adult Fiction-Multicultural and Adult Nonfiction-Anthology categories, respectively.

This is the third Foreword BOTYA finalist for Atticus Books and the 16th annual Book of the Year Awards contest held by Foreword Reviews, the only review magazine solely dedicated to discovering new indie books. Last year, Three Ways of the Saw, the debut story collection of Matt Mullins, was named a 2012 finalist in the Adult Fiction-Short Stories category.

In the next month, a panel of more than 100 librarians and booksellers will determine the winners of the 2013 BOTY awards. A celebration of the winners will take place during the American Library Association Annual Conference in Las Vegas on Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m. with awards in more than 60 categories, cash prizes for the best in fiction and nonfiction, and widespread recognition.

Paper Dreams Each year, Foreword shines a light on a small group of indie authors and publishers whose groundbreaking work stands out from the crowd. Foreword‘s awards are more than just a shiny sticker on the front of a book; they help connect the best indie books to readers eager to discover new stories written by previously unknown authors.
