Rising Sons, Featuring Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder

A combination of swamp blues, folk, and a loose contagious wildness that keeps my foot stomping and my spine tingling. This is a band that would have had a long, illustrious career had it stayed together. As it happened, it only stuck it out a couple of years in the mid-Sixties and were famous for playing raucous sets at Los Angeles bars. This collection of previously unreleased tracks was released in 1992 on CD. When I first stumbled upon it, I thought I had discovered gold in the form of a little-known group, not knowing that this bountiful selection of recordings was the extent of what I’d be able to find. A desert island disc.
