Jim Croce, You Don’t Mess Around with Jim

I listened to Photographs & Memories: Jim Croce’s Greatest Hits more than any other album in my childhood. I absolutely adored it. He seemed like the coolest dude, with his collection of Damon Runyon characters like Bad, Bad Leroy Brown and Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy), and how could you have survived the Seventies without listening to his songs, “Operator,” “Time in a Bottle,” and the barroom hero’s tale, “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim?”
