Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland, Showdown!

Once Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan indoctrinated me in the blues, this was my go-to album in 1985. If it were possible to wear down the grooves of a CD, this gem of a record would have become unplayable after all the times I listened to it, usually while getting ready to go out. It is infectious, guitar-driven blues by three of the best ax men to unite for a playful, searing jam. It’s a Grammy-winning blues album, so apparently I wasn’t alone in my appreciation. Jaw-dropping, rocking goodness.
